Which Dracula recording should you buy?
An epistolary novel, which means it is a natural fit for a cast of narrators — and Audible UK has several, alongside solo readings, abridgements, an AI voice, dramatisations (one a new star-cast Audible adaptation, another led by Mark Gatiss) and an edition in Malayalam, all sitting in the same search results.

Short answer
Mark Gatiss for a straight solo reading: complete, one voice, and the Penguin Classics edition. Mind which Gatiss you buy: his name also heads the cast of a Big Finish dramatisation at 4 hours 6 minutes, listed under the same plain title. If you would rather hear the letters and diaries in different voices — which is arguably what Stoker wrote for — the multi-cast Audible edition with Alan Cumming, Tim Curry and Simon Vance is complete too, and is the better argument. Be careful making that choice, because a second star-cast Audible Dracula is now listed beside it: Jonathan Bailey, Ella Purnell, Aimee Lou Wood and Maggie Gyllenhaal in a new full-cast adaptation, released on 1 October 2026, at 5 hours 57, against 14 hrs 17 mins to 18 hrs 50 mins for the complete readings in the table. Its byline credits an adaptation, but its title, Bram Stoker's Dracula, does not say so. The other things to avoid by accident rather than choice: the short radio dramatisations — the 1 hour 58 one, the BBC production with Tom Hiddleston as Harker and David Suchet as Dracula (another famous name on a play rather than the book), and the 3 hour 19 Classic BBC Radio Horror production with Frederick Jaeger — the abridgements under three hours by Anthony Valentine, Richard E. Grant and Edward Woodward (Woodward's is sold under the same title as his complete reading), the BBC Radio 4 multi-voice reading with Michael Fassbender and James D'Arcy, which is marked abridged, Geoffrey Giuliano's Count Dracula, a 2 hour 24 listing whose description says it also holds a history of the real Dracula and of the Dracula films, the Naxos abridgement read by a cast including Brian Cox and Heathcote Williams, the Oxford Bookworms reader for English learners, the AI narration, and the Malayalam edition, which appears in an English search for Dracula with nothing but the cover to tell you. Among the complete readings the choice is one of voice: Simon Vance, Nick Sandys, Peter Batchelor, Christopher Saul, Gildart Jackson and Jonathan Keeble are among those who read it solo, and several editions share it between readers.
