Which order should you listen in?

Publication order. The Karla trilogy — Tinker Tailor, The Honourable Schoolboy, Smiley's People — is the core and has to be heard in that order; the early detective novels are short and worth taking first for the character. Karla's Choice, written by Nick Harkaway after his father's death, is set in 1963 between The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Tinker Tailor, but is listed where it was published because it assumes you know how the story ends.
