Which Appointment with Death recording should you buy?
The novel read in full, a BBC radio play, and the same Collins retelling for English learners in both of the publisher's ranges — different levels and lengths, the same reader, and descriptions that are word for word the same.

Short answer
Hugh Fraser for the novel. The BBC edition is a radio play with John Moffatt as Poirot, and runs well under the book. The two Roger May listings are both Collins graded readers for people learning English, sold in two of Collins's ranges: one carries "B2+" on the line beneath the title, the other "B2", and nothing else distinguishes them — same plain title, same reader, same description. Neither is the novel. If you checked one and dismissed it, the other is still there.
The recordings, compared
| Narrator | Length | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hugh Fraser Our pick | 5 hrs 58 mins | Complete novel | The complete novel, solo. |
| Full cast with John Moffatt | 1 hr 27 mins | BBC full-cast dramatisation | A BBC radio play. The title does not say so. |
| Roger May | 3 hrs 39 mins | Collins graded reader (B2+) | NOT the novel: a Collins graded reader for people learning English. The title is plain and the only sign is a bare "B2+" on the line beneath it. |
| Roger May | 3 hrs 36 mins | Collins graded reader (B2) | NOT the novel either: the same retelling in Collins's other range, a bare "B2" beneath the title, at a slightly different length. Its description is word for word the same as the B2+ listing. |
