Which order should you listen in?

Almost entirely standalone, so start with a famous one rather than the first. Two real constraints: Curtain must be last, because it is the ending; and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd should be heard before anyone spoils it for you.

Watch out for the graded readers

13 of these books are also sold as graded readers — the text rewritten to a controlled vocabulary for people learning English, listed under the book’s own title and costing the same single credit as the novel. They run 2 hrs 54 mins to 4 hrs 4 mins, which reads like an ordinary abridgement in a list of results.

On Audible the line under the title gives the level on every one, but on 7 of them only as a bare code such as “B2+”, with nothing to say what it means, so the title and heading are not a check you can rely on. They are perfectly good products for the audience they are written for. They are just not the novel.
