Which Going Postal recording should you buy?
Three very different Going Postals have been sold, and the store does little to distinguish them. One is less than half the length of another.
Short answer
Get the 13-hour Richard Coyle recording. It is the current full-cast-ish production — Coyle reads, Bill Nighy is Death, Peter Serafinowicz handles the footnotes — and it is the version Pratchett newcomers should meet. Only choose Tony Robinson if you specifically want an abridgement.
Every recording, compared
| Narrator | Length | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Richard Coyle, with Bill Nighy and Peter Serafinowicz Our pick | 13 hrs 36 mins | Unabridged | The current recording. Nighy voices Death and Serafinowicz reads the footnotes, which is a neat solution to a problem print handles better than audio. |
| Tony Robinson | 6 hrs 7 mins | Abridged | Less than half the length. Robinson is a fine reader and this is not a bad listen, but you are getting roughly half the book. |
