Almost entirely standalone — start anywhere. A Murder Is Announced and The Body in the Library are the usual recommendations for a first listen. Sleeping Murder was written early but published last.

Watch out for the graded readers
8 of these books are also sold as graded readers — the text rewritten to a controlled vocabulary for people learning English, listed under the book’s own title and costing the same single credit as the novel. They run 2 hrs 32 mins to 3 hrs 36 mins, which reads like an ordinary abridgement in a list of results.
On Audible the line under the title gives the level on every one, but on 5 of them only as a bare code such as “B2+”, with nothing to say what it means, so the title and heading are not a check you can rely on. They are perfectly good products for the audience they are written for. They are just not the novel.
